Aquarium Divers Help Student Tie the Knot

Awww, isn't that cute!?

A STUDENT who visited a north-east aquarium with her boyfriend found that romance rather than fish was on his mind.

Kay Warner was speechless when her partner, Kenny Ritchie, proposed with a little help from aquarium staff.

The nervous suitor had arranged with Macduff Marine Aquarium to pop the question on his behalf.

Divers in the main tank at feeding time held up signs which asked if she would marry him. Mr Ritchie then went down on one knee and presented her with a ring and a single rose.

Miss Warner, 26, who accepted, said: “I couldn’t speak to start with because I was so surprised.

“I didn’t know anything about it and when I saw the signs, the tears were streaming down my face.”

Mr Ritchie, 29, a merchant seaman, said: “Kay always said that if anyone proposed to her she wanted it done romantically.

“The aquarium staff couldn’t have been more helpful, but I was shaking the whole day.”

Mr Ritchie’s proposal was witnessed on Wednesday by other aquarium visitors who burst into applause.
