Scuba diving for your honeymoon? Why wait? Why not scuba dive during the ceremony... with a bunch of fellow newly-trained divers!?
Vietravel’s Nha Trang office Thursday organized Vietnam’s biggest- ever underwater group wedding at Mun Island in the central coastal city of Nha Trang, which boasts one of the world’s 30 most beautiful bays.
The four participating couples were Vu Hoang Huong Phuong and Tran Hung Quoc Viet, Nguyen Van Thanh and Le Thi My Ha, Nguyen Thang Loi and Huynh Vo Ngoc Ha, and British nationals Grant Hesketh and Eleanor Lawrence.
To prepare for the event, diving experts from Vietravel’s Vinadive trained all the couples in advance.
As planned, the four couples traveled along Tran Phu Street at 8 a.m.
They then got on the wedding boat and headed offshore.
At 9:30 a.m., festivities kicked off on Mun Island involving champagne, and wine toasts and cutting the cake.
The couples then dove into the water to partake in a ceremony that spanned half an hour.
The brides stood behind the gate with the sign “Underwater Wedding” and the grooms swam to the brides to present flowers and wedding rings.
They swam hand in hand past coral ridges, playing with hosts of colorful fish, consummating a picturesque avowal of romance.
The wedding cost each couple VND9.9 million (US$619).
