Scuba Diving Influences Design Elements in Avatar

The folks over at AquaViews have a very interesting post about James Cameron's love for scuba diving and how that love translated into certain graphic elements of his huge box office hit, Avatar.

It’s a pretty well known fact that Canadian film director, producer and screenwriter- James Cameron has a love for the Ocean and of Space & Alien life. One of the most well known Celebrity Scuba Divers, his love for these two subjects is apparent in most of his movies right from the ‘Alien’ series, ‘Titanic’, ‘The Abyss’, ‘Volcanoes of the Deep Sea’ and is even clearly seen in his latest blockbuster and superhit movie ‘Avatar’. Now you’re thinking, you get the Alien bit about ‘Avatar’, but you don’t see anything to do with the Ocean, right? Well if you look closely, Cameron’s influence of Scuba diving and love of the sea with it’s fascinating and unique life is deeply embedded in the movie.

Bold, Fresh New Scuba Diving Sweatshirt for 2010

The year is two-thousand and ten.

And for a bold start to a fresh decade, we here at Neutral Dive Gear have introduced a new and entirely unique pullover hooded sweatshirt that purposely puts your passion for scuba diving on display for all to see.

Introducing... the Crossed Tanks Hooded Sweatshirt.

Our original and highly-acclaimed crossed tanks graphic by lead graphic designer George Haney has been taking the scuba community by storm since its introduction last summer.

Featured on the front of the sweatshirt is our edgy wave logo graphic, with three intricate lines representing the three-fold nature of scuba divers: mind, body, and soul.

Divers will also be stoked to notice the intricate addition of a custom neutral arrows logo tag centered on the lip of each hood. While other scuba clothing companies continue to look for ways to mass produce their clothing, we take the time to hand-sew each custom tag to ensure the quality and unique nature of our products.



Our charge here at NDG has always been to bring divers clothing and apparel of which they can finally be proud. We think it's safe to say this sweatshirt (along with our other scuba clothing) surely lives up to that mission.
